Mission: The Pennsylvania VOICE 501(c)(3) Organizing Table (PA VOICE) is a fiscally sponsored project of State Voices. PA VOICE works at the state level to engage underrepresented communities in the democratic process, develop new leadership from within these constituencies, and take collective action on important policy issues. PA VOICE aims to achieve this mission through better coordination of nonprofits focused on civic participation and bringingmore resources,both technical and financial, to bear on this work year-round, both in and out of election cycles.
Job Title: Pennsylvania State Coordinator
Reports to: PA VOICE Advisory Council
Job Summary: The Pennsylvania State Coordinator will expand capacity for PA VOICE by providing to full-time a position that has provided assistance on a part-time basis since 2005 to over 50 partner organizations statewide. This position represents a unique opportunity to work in partnership with the state's most active civic engagement organizations,network with numerous national organizations and provide a measurable impact in increasing civic participation and voter turnout.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement and oversee collaborative civic participation projects and services. Work with PA VOICE Table member representatives to prioritize, develop, execute and analyze collaborative civic participation projects, services and campaigns.Work with consulting support staff including the State Consultant, State Field Director and State Data & Targeting Manager.
- Coordinate monthly table meetings. Provide planning, coordination and facilitation for monthly partner meetings held on an alternating basis in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Harrisburg. Attend 3 - 4 national convening meetings each year.
- Fundraising and fiscal management. Proven track record, Including writing, securing, working with donors and foundations, tracking and reporting grants; and working with the Advisory Council in developing andmanaging the budget.
- Strengthen Partner Groups' civic participation capabilities Conduct needs assessments to identify training topics; provide trainings, and identify and provide tools (including, for example, voter file utilization, targeting and research) to support the PA VOICE Table partners' collaborative civic participation activities.
- Enhance Table Services. Plan statewide and regional table meetings, recruit partners from missing or underrepresented constituency organizations
Qualifications:
- Demonstrable experience developing andmanaging civic participation projects and campaigns and/or social, racial or economic justice campaigns;
- Demonstrable experience building diverse and effective alliances and collaborations;
- Demonstrable experience in fundraising, budgeting and grant-making;
- Excellent organizational skills and proven ability to work collaboratively;
- Excellent communication (written and oral) skills, as well as cultural competence and the ability to communicate effectively with people representing diverse interests and backgrounds;
- Preference given to candidates familiarwith Pennsylvania nonprofit and social justice organizations and political landscape;
- Willingness and ability to travel; and
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Power Point, VAN or other online voter file tools and online networking and collaborative tools.

Location: The location of the Director is negotiable.
Salary and Benefits: Salary $65,000 plus full benefits / commensurate with background and experience.

Executive Director: Grassroots Institute of New Jersey / New Jersey Working Families Alliance

The Grassroots Institute of New Jersey and the New Jersey Working Families Alliance are two organizations working to achieve progressive change in New Jersey. The Grassroots Institute (GINJ), a 501(c)(3) fiscally sponsored project, unites diverse organizations working for social change, provides them with tools and support to better conduct their advocacy and nonpartisan civic engagement work, and conducts policy research, education and leadership development. The New Jersey Working Families Alliance (NJWFA) is a 501(c)(4) organization comprised of labor and advocacy organizations that work together to hold elected officials accountable on issues of concern to working families.[1] The NJWFA and GINJ work to achieve a vision of New Jersey as a place of opportunity and prosperity for everyone. The issues we work on together with our partners include tax and budget policy, health care, education, jobs, equal rights, and the environment. The two organizations seek an energetic, strategic and driven individual to fill their joint Executive Director position.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Providing the overall strategic direction and ensuring the effectiveness of the organizations
- Managing a staff of 4 to 5 people
- Providing strategic guidance on all program activities
- Representing the organizations with policymakers, constituency groups, funders and media
- Coordinating statewide campaign and coalition around state budget and revenue policy, with staff and partners
- Bottom-line responsibility for ensuring the fiscal health of the organizations, including identifying funding sources, developing and implementing fundraising plans, developing and managing relationships with potential and current funders, and writing funding proposals
- Convening and ensuring ongoing communication with Executive Committees of both organizations
- Building and managing diverse coalitions of labor and non-profit organizations
- Overseeing external communications activities with communications staff
- Developing and maintaining partnerships with national networks that provide technical and program support
- Seeking out and implementing best practices, effective strategies, and tools used by other statewide progressive organizations and tables
- Managing all financial activities including billing, payroll and audits, in conjunction with outside professionals
- Ensuring legal compliance including separation between the two organizations, in conjunction with outside professionals
- Overseeing all reporting to funders and partners
Job Qualifications:
- Deep commitment to progressive social change
- Minimum 5 years experience in progressive organizations or campaigns
- Minimum 5 years management experience
- Demonstrated ability to fundraise
- Knowledge of New Jersey political landscape and progressive issues, organizations and leaders, or demonstrated ability to quickly assess landscape and develop relationships with key leaders and partners
- Proven ability to develop organizational and campaign plans and oversee implementation
- Strong leadership and facilitation skills with ability to build and direct the organizations and unite diverse partners
- Strong writing, communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail
- Ability to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Entrepreneurial orientation with the drive, persistence and management ability necessary to achieve outcomes and overcome challenges
- Understanding of 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), and labor organizations
- Understanding of electoral politics
- Excellent judgment and discretion
Salary and Work Environment:
- Salary is commensurate with experience. Health, dental and 401(k) are provided.
- Based in Newark
- Frequent in-state travel and periodic national travel required
- Some evening and weekend work required
